Eclipseo

where your eclipse vision begins

The Eclipseo initiative arises as a collaborative project between the Stars4All Foundation and Savestars Consulting, S.L. around a once in a lifetime opportunity. Taking advantage of the experience developed by Stars4All in the light pollution outreach, its main objective is to inform in advance about the next solar eclipses visible from Spain between 2025 and 2028,  and to facilitate the acquisition of glasses at low cost to be able to enjoy them safely.

But Eclipseo also has a divulgative vocation. It will carry out independent analyses at the Laboratory for Advanced Scientific Instrumentation (LICA) of the Complutense University of Madrid (UCM) to characterize the visible and infrared transmittance of the crystals throughout the three years that the eclipse period will last 2025-2028.

Eclipse glasses must verify the UNE-EN ISO 12312-2:2015 standard “Eye and face protection. Sunglasses and related eyewear. Part 2: Filters for direct observation of the sun”

In its outreach aspect, Eclipseo provides information and educational resources about how eclipses occur, their history and how to observe them safely, as well as more specialized data for observers. Specific aspects will be addressed close to each eclipse and updated information will be provided to help with planning.
